1880: a pit in Seaham in North of England exploded and over 160 miners died. This tragic event has now been turned into a novel to introduce a new literary hero called Harry Hanson.

This new novel, by Stephen Ward, starts with the explosion and its immediate aftermath. The novel depicts life in a small mining town and contrasts the oppressed lives of the pitmen against the more affluent lifestyles of the pit owners.

Stephen Ward, a nurse, has always had a love of books and after a life reading, he has finally created his own literary character, Harry Hanson is the main protagonist of this and a further six novels to be published later.

The story is well paced with well-constructed characters as you learn more about Harry and the diverse range of characters that contribute to the development of the story. Some of those characters are real others constructed by the author. The author has already written a further two books in the series and is currently working on the fourth.
